Protecting British Skies: Help Shape the Future of UK Space Policy

The United Kingdom is rapidly emerging as a leader in space technology. While this industrial expansion brings immense commercial potential, the unprecedented proliferation of large satellite constellations in low Earth orbit (LEO) poses a silent and systemic threat to our night skies. From visible light streaks adversely impacting the cultural heritage of our night skies to out-of-band radio signals blinding state-of-the-art radio telescopes, the window to protect Earth-based astronomy is narrowing. Because the UK's domestic space laws are still actively developing, we have a unique and historic opportunity to ensure that protections for astronomy and the space environment are baked into new rules from the beginning.
